===== A message from the 'makahwhaling' discussion list ===== HELP A LOCAL GROUP SPEAK FOR YOU! ------------------------------------------------------------------ Folks, many of you have asked how you can help stop this ongoing slaughter, and it is our duty to inform you of effective ways of doing so. Here is one very local-oriented way to REALLY make your feelings known. The 'Peninsula Citizens for the Protection of Whales' is a group of citizens based out of Port Angeles. They have not asked for any financial assistance, preferring instead for concerned people to donate to the on-water protest groups. Now it is time to help out our neighbors. Unlike the Makah whale killers, the Peninsula Citizens have had to finance their campaign with their own money. Now they are asking for donations in order to maintain their presence near Neah Bay. These are the brave folks you see on television being dragged from the highway and stopping traffic at the Makah border. We owe these brave Washington residents more than our gratitude for making life difficult for the whale killers, we owe them the chance to continue the fight, even as the Makah speak publicly of going for another whale soon. Many of them have left their jobs, homes and family behind in order to maintain a very important presence against Makah atrocities. Please be generous and help our fellow Washington neighbors out. They're fighting for all of us. Credit card donations: Call Olson's Resort at (360) 963-2311 and ask to contribute to the "Peninsula Citizens" fund. Call Mailed contributions- send to: Chuck Owens, 612 Schmitt Road, Port Angeles, WA 98363 ***** BREAKING NEWS- BOMB THREAT CALLED IN TO PUYALLUP SCHOOL ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- KING-5 TV is reporting that 1000 were evacuated from a Puyallup tribe elementary school because of a bomb threat. Caller claims bomb planted in retaliation for the very public Puyallup support of the Makah whale kill... Also, a local elementray school has been forced to change a children's puppet show depicting Makah culture because of complaints and protests from parents. The WCCA forecast these developments back in October, but the Makah wouldn't listen. Unfortunately, those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it. However, it should be noted that the WCCA consists only of non-violent protest groups. More details as they become available. *****
