Subject: Whale Emergency in Neah Bay

The Makah are still on the water vowing "to get their whale."  At last
report, they have not yet killed a whale, though they have thrown harpoons.
The Coast Guard has stolen Sedna's jet boat, Zodiac and Cheryl's jetski.
All our people are out of custody, but our skipper and Cheryl, in Orwellian
doublespeak insanity, have been charged with violating the Marine Mammal
Protection Act: this for protecting and saving whales in a National Marine
Sanctuary and trying to keep the Makah from killing a whale.  After being
released, Sedna crew went and got another boat and are out on the water
again on their mission of whale protection.  Sea Shepherd's Sirenian is also
on the water, but they appear content to simply document and videotape the
goings-on rather than to protect the whales from Makah violence.

National news is saying that Sea Defense Alliance ran over and hit a whale.
This is untrue.  Sedna's boat did go over a whale, but did not hit it.
Sedna's boat has no propellers and a draft of only two feet; the whale was
deeper than that.  The whale got away from the Makah and Sedna clearly saved
its life.  PLEASE call any news media putting out this false propaganda and
straighten them out.

The Coast Guard may be keeping our boats for 30 days.  If you can send
boats, or money.  With enough funds, we'll go get more watercraft and
continuing protecting the whales on the water.   Donations can be sent to
Sedna, P.O. Box 401, Williams, Oregon 97544; or to get to us faster, to
Sedna, 6007 Palatine N., Seattle, WA 98103.  Thanks to everyone helping us
to protect the whales.  This morning was the closest call yet.  As long as
we have any watercraft and bodies not behind bars we will be out there
working to keep the whales' bodies from being ripped and torn by Makah
military-style weapons.
